Great work and a few questions
Hats off to the developers of this wiki -- very nicely done work with semantic wiki tools - this has the potential to be truly powerful for driving IE further into industry. Quick questions/suggestions -
1. Can you add support for the <ref> command from wikipedia or make an easy way to tie back to the articles in your very nice BibTex forms? 2. Have you considered partnering with other wikis with a more broad scope - that would house your powerful tools within them to add contextual information to all of examples in the IE database?
Thanks for the great work --J.M.Pearce 16:53, 24 September 2010 (CEST)
1. I need to look into the second option, i.e. I'd like to have a way to have references displayed based on the data entered in the BibTex forms. This would have the advantage that a reference would only have to be entered once, and if you made any corrections to the entry, it could automatically show up on the other pages (see below for what enables this).
2. The tools used on this site are all open source, and the big enabler is Semantic MediaWiki along with a few related extensions such as Semantic Maps. This essentially turns your wiki into a sort of wiki/database hybrid where you can have structured data where useful, but also still have plain text/discussions where needed. What's great is that people who already have a plain MediaWiki install can drop these in and start doing some rather powerful stuff.
We've also been doing some development on the SparqlExtension which among other things allows for data from external wikis & other data sources to be queried and displayed/visualized on your own wiki. This is a bit more advanced, but we're working with the Semantic MediaWiki community to make this easier. ChrisDavis 21:44, 27 September 2010 (CEST)
